The American Chemical Society (ACS) Central Science featured CIRCUSOL and one of our partners, PV Cycle, in an article about the big challenge that the photovoltaic industry will face in the coming years: waste.

The article explains the threats of PV if they are not processed appropriately. According to the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), less than 10% of the panels are recycled in the country. In Europe, even if that percentage increases due to a more strict regulation, still sees how part of those are incinerated, knowing the toxic materials that they contain.

The "Solar Panels Face a Recycling Challenge": to disassemble the module's glass ans separate it from the cells. There is still some way to go and research to be done to find the solution that would fit all stakeholders. After all, is everybody's responsibility.
