Tom Rommens from VITO participated as a panelist in the event "Ecolabels for PV: the missing link for EU-based, green PV manufacturing" which took place last 30 March 2022 in the Press Club of Brussels and online. The event, was organised under the scope of the project PV Impact, an initiative that supports the execution of the SET Plan implementation and monitoring for PV.
The event, intended to provide an overvier of the currentposition of PV products in relation to ecodesign and ecolabels, with particular foci on industry and green procurement. The session was divided in three panels:
Panel 1: Ecodesign and Ecolabel. It was focused on the ecodesign and ecolabel options in Europe, as well as some differences with other international initiatives. This panel was moderated by Gaëtan Masson (Becquerel Institute) and counted on Davide Polverini (DG GROW, EC), Deborah Graham (Global Electronics Council) and Josco Kester (TNO).
Panel 2: Industry view. It presented the views of the PV industry and how the concepts tackled by ecolabel could reshape the manufacturing of PV in Europe. Javier Sanz (InnoEnergy) moderated the panel session and counted on Carsten Rohr (NorSun AS), Vincent Bes (Photowatt) and Antoine Chalaux (ROSI Solar).
Panel 3: Carbon Foorprint and Green Procurement. It tackled the lessons learnt and potential opportunities for the industry. The session was moderated by Nieves Espinosa (JRC, EC) and the participants were Lucas Weiss (Voltec) and the coordinator of CIRCUSOL, Tom Rommens.
